In order to meet the requirements of EMDR International Association (the professional organization of EMDR Therapy), you must meet the following prerequisites prior to registering for the training.
Licensed Mental Health Professionals
The following qualified Licensed Mental Health Professionals must submit a copy of their license upon registration:
- Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline considered appropriate by EMDRIA
- Qualifying Medical Doctors must have a medical specialty in Psychiatry
- Qualifying Nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric nursing
Mental Health Clinicians who have a Master’s degree in one of the following fields must also submit their graduate transcript to EMDRIA to determine their eligibility:
Art Therapy, Christian/Pastoral Counseling, Drug/Alcohol Counseling, and Music Therapy.
Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Professionals
All of the degree requirements above also apply for those who are provisionally licensed and/or on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.
Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Professionals must submit the following documentation to determine eligibility:
1) a copy of their own provisional license
2) a completed Consent to Attend Training Form (click to view) from their current supervisor (which includes the supervisor’s degree information, licensure information and license number).
Post Graduate Interns
Post Graduate Interns who would like to take the training must submit the following documentation to determine eligibility:
1) a copy of their graduate transcript (an official transcript is not required) submitted via email to info@emdrtrainingcenter.com or fax to (888) 383-1747
2) a completed Consent to Attend Training Form (click to view) from their current supervisor (which verifies that they are on a licensing track and includes the supervisor’s degree information, licensure information and license number).
Graduate Student Interns
Qualifying graduate students must be enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work) or related mental health discipline considered appropriate by EMDRIA.
Students must have completed their core graduate academic coursework and must be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program.
Graduate students must be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician and have the approval of their supervisor to practice EMDR Therapy with clients.
All graduate students who would like to take the Training will need to submit all of the following documentation to determine eligibility for registering for an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Therapy Training:
1) a copy of their graduate transcript (documenting practicum/internship status during the required EMDR Training follow-up consultation) submitted via email to info@emdrtrainingcenter.com or fax to (888) 383-1747
2) a completed Consent to Attend Training Form (click to view) from their internship supervisor (which verifies that they will be using EMDR Therapy with their clients during their internship and includes the supervisor’s degree information, licensure information and license number).
Graduate students who are enrolled in a Master’s program in one of the following fields must submit their graduate course transcript to EMDRIA to determine their eligibility: Art Therapy, Christian/Pastoral Counseling, Drug/Alcohol Counseling, and Music Therapy.
IMPORTANT:
WITHIN TWO WEEKS of your online registration you must submit documentation in support of the above EMDR Therapy Training Eligibility Requirements to EMDR Training Center via email or fax. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of your pending class reservation and result in cancellation fees. The above instructions will also be provided via your Registration Confirmation email. If you register less than three weeks prior to the start of training, you must submit ALL supporting documentation within ONE WEEK of your registration or risk forfeiture of your pending class reservation.
