Coronavirus, COVID-19 Readiness

At this time (and unless the official guidance changes), we are planning to hold all scheduled training events.

EMDR Training Center, LLC is actively monitoring the progression of the coronavirus, COVID-19, to ensure that we have the most accurate and latest information on the threat of the virus. As you know, this situation continues to develop as new cases are identified and our existing protocols will be adjusted as needed.

While most cases of COVID-19 are mild, causing only fever and cough, with a small percentage of cases become severe.  We would like to proactively address any concerns you may have and want to share with you how our organization is responding to the threat of COVID-19.

We are following updates and procedures from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), State Department of Health, local and county authorities, and the EMDR International Association. Our response and plans may adjust according to the recommendations from these organizations.

* As a standard practice, we have an emergency preparedness and infection prevention plan in place. We will continue to follow it as this situation evolves or update it accordingly.

* Our organization follows established protocol regarding staying home when sick. This practice is not new to our staff.

* Our staff has been asked to assess any known risk factors, such as travel to areas with widespread outbreaks or local contact in areas known to have reported cases are ongoing. We will advise them not to report to work if they are deemed high-risk.

*We feel fortunate that the exposure risk inherent in large crowds does not apply to our training events.  Which are more intimate with no more than 65 attendees, including our staff.

* We will attempt to utilize open and well-ventilated training facilities. When possible, we will also allow attendees to perform the required practice exercises outdoors.

*We will work closely with all training facilities utilized on any protocols, exchange of information, or other guidelines as necessary.

*In compliance with CDC recommendations we will adjust the food service to “limit food sharing” by providing individual packaged servings.

* During each training event we will provide COVID-19 prevention supplies to event staff and participants, such as hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, tissues, trash baskets, and alcohol disinfectant wipes.

* At the end of each training day we will recommend that participants clean frequently touched surfaces and objects, such as their own tables and chairs.  The facility’s staff or our staff will clean shared tables, chairs and door handles daily.

Contingency Planning

* Depending on the severity of the spread of illness in communities or the response taken by national and state authorities (ex. mandatory isolation, crowd restrictions, etc.), our staffing levels may be affected. However, we feel fortunate to have a pool of trained and experienced professionals from which to draw, should this become necessary.

* We will make every effort possible to provide our attendees with safe and appropriate training and seek to avoid canceling training events, however, we cannot guarantee this will not occur given the uncertainties about this situation.

* In the event that the dates of a training need to be changed or the training is cancelled, registrants will be notified as soon as possible.  The registrant may have the ability to be transferred to a future training, provided it is not sold out.  Registrants may also request a refund (less any payment processing fees) which will be provided within 10 business days.  Refunds cannot be made by ETC for lodging, airfare, or any other expenses related to the training.

* We will work with any registrant that needs to reschedule their training dates due to health issues, or are symptomatic, or has travelled to countries where the spread of the virus is serious right now.

*We request that any person attending a training event leave and seek immediate medical attention, if they begin to have symptoms of COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. See CDC guidance on what to do when sick with COVID-19.

* A designated space will be available for staff and participants who may become sick and cannot leave the event immediately.
